Kampong Phluk Floating Village

Tonle Sap Lake, about 31 km southeast of Siem Reap

Kampong Phluk Floating Village

A fishing village of houses on 6-meter stilts, plus a boat ride through a flooded mangrove forest on Southeast Asia’s largest lake.

About: Kampong Phluk is home to fishing families who live in tall stilt houses built for the seasonal floods of Tonle Sap Lake. In the wet season, the houses appear to float on the water. Visitors take a boat through the village and the flooded forest, then out onto the open lake. Opening hours: Daily, roughly 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM Tickets: About $20 per person for the boat, plus about $2 community entrance fee. Best time to visit: August to December, when the water is high. Afternoon trips can include sunset over the lake. How to get there: About 45–60 minutes by car or tuk-tuk.
